If The Dollhouse sounds like then hangout of a glamorous, go-getting girl clique, it pretty much is.
Good news, no Mean Girls are they and you can absolutely sit with them. The popular beauty salon has expanded its base in Dubai Ladies’ Club, where it has been dolling up women and girls since 2012. The new Beauty Studio is in another wing in the club’s green grounds, away from the hubbub of the busy main salon, where we check in before being led over to the petite and peaceful space.
On offer here are massages, expert application of local celebrity Huda Beauty’s eyelashes application and henna designs courtesy of Girly Henna, plus oodles of products that beauty fanatics will love. The pale room is accentuated by flashes of The Dollhouse’s trademark wacky striped prints. Otherwise it’s very restful – almost too quiet, and some soft mood music would have set the scene.
Our massage is thorough and drama-free, with the right amount of pressure to work out the knots from our tense spots. No need to head back to the main salon once we’re done – two therapists are ready to do a classic mani-pedi. They even recruit a colleague to fetch polishes in our preferred shade. Friendly and chatty, they make up for the quiet surroundings, as personally we love a natter mid-treatment. We’re deemed in need of a paraffin treatment too, so our hands and feet are plunged into bags of warm ‘custard’ that coats them in a healing and protective shell that is then peeled away to leave adorably soft skin.
As paraffin newbie, whether it’s because of this we can’t say, but our mani-pedi stays chip-free for almost a week and we’re left feeling almost red carpet ready – word has it that The Doll House (aka Your House of Glamour) knocks out a mean blow dry too.
The VIP package is AED 350 for a classic mani-pedi and massage, or AED 500 with a gel mani-pedi. Paraffin treatment AED 70 for hands and AED 110 for feet. The Dollhouse, The Dubai Ladies’ Club (next to the Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah Beach Road). 04 385 4484. 9am-10pm, daily.
