Review: Prepare to bloom in the Beauty Garden

Beauty Garden, JLT, new salon

Are you a salon shopper or a devoted regular to one beauty crew? We fall into the latter group, but we might have been tempted away.

Beauty Garden in the latest salon to open in JLT. All grooming HQs need a concept and theirs is organic products for reasonable prices. We’re big fans of toxin-free treatments so took time to check them out.

Inside the ladies’ only space, natural coloured woods and blooming vertical plant walls make the mission statement into style. Will we be as verdant after our facial and hair treatments?

Beauty Garden has an impressive menu of eight ways to revive desert dry locks . As our hair is in bad condition from months of bleaching, we’re recommended a mix of Olaplex hair re-bonding treatment and L’oreal Biotin conditioner.

They’re applied while we relax on the salon’s fully reclinable chairs. That and the accompanying head massage are just what we need after a long day at work. Treatments take between 30 minutes and an hour to take effect, so they’re left on while we move to our facial.

Salon skin therapist Joy is certified by American skincare brand Dermalogica and has more than 10 years of experience in tackling skincare woes, so we couldn’t be in better hands. With its functional packaging and lack of nasties (products contain no lanolin, SD alcohol, mineral oil, artificial colours or fragrances and are veggie and cruelty-free), Dermalogica fits right in with Beauty Garden’s ethos.

The 75-minute Skin Balance facial starts with a double cleanse gel to make sure our face is fully prepped. Joy applies a daily microfoliant rice powder with the promise of it tightening our pores and brightening skin, as prepping us for extractions.

It’s that stage of the facial where Dr Pimple Popper fans delight, but we’re often left wincing. After five minutes of steam, Joy sets to work and we’re amazed at how gentle she is. Afterwards, she layers a multivitamin power recovery mask over a gel colloidal base mask for our eyes and lips. While having no idea about the science behind the products, our skin feels fresh, supple and looks bright.

With our face on point, a wash, blow dry and curl finishes off our hair. Worth knowing that this isn’t included in the treatment price, so you’ll need to budget extra – not too much though, as new customers get 40 per cent off their first treatment and there’s a loyalty scheme too.

Skin Balance Facial AED 285 for 75 minutes (60 minutes and 20 minutes also available), hair treatment AED 125 for medium length hair and AED 75 for blow dry. Beauty Garden Ladies’ Salon, Cluster Q Saba Tower 3, JLT. 9am-9pm daily. 054 554 0022.

Dubai Week was a guest of the salon.
