A funky – and hopefully affordable – new hotel has made its Dubai début.
Aloft Palm Jumeirah is the first of the Marriott-owned brand to open in Dubai and it already has a further five new openings planned under the motto of “urban, modern design and a hip social experience all at an affordable price”.
Not shy of equipping its 206-loft inspired rooms with the latest gizmo, each living space will be kitted out with fast and free WiFi, 49-inch LCD TVs with Plug & Play consoles to get your game on and rooms that can be unlocked with a mobile app.
Six dining destinations will call Aloft Palm Jumeirah home – so far we know about East & Seaboard Restaurant all day-diner; the Afterdeck Lounge; the brand’s signature W XYZ Bar; Re:mix Lounge, which will host gigs by up-and-coming artists, and rooftop Mexican cantina Luchador.
As well as community-mindedness, the hotel brand also prides itself on being green, with dispensers instead of toiletry miniatures and extra like bathrobes on request. Quirky touches aimed at the younger (or younger at heart) traveller include giant beanbags in rooms and retro alarm clocks (that also act as a dock for your mobile).
A 24-hour fitness centre and infinity pool with ocean views add to the recipe that sounds perfect for weekend staycations.
Aloft already has properties in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi and plans to expand in Dubai this year, opening hotels in Aloft Me’aisam in Production City, Aloft City Centre Deira, and Aloft Dubai South in Jebel Ali. Also in the pipeline are Aloft Dubai Airport and Aloft Dubai Raffa in Port Rashid.
