LONDON, May 8 / WAM / Manchester City took a new and important step on the road to retaining the title with a 5-0 victory over Newcastle in the 36th round of the English Premier League today, Sunday.

Manchester City were top of the table with 86 points, with Liverpool sharing 24 hours with him, with the latter drawing 1-1 with Tottenham in the same round on Saturday evening.

So, regardless of Liverpool’s results in the remaining two rounds this season, Manchester City need just four points from the remaining two matches to secure the title for the second consecutive season and for the eighth time in its history.

And with four draws and only one defeat in the last 29 games against Newcastle in the English Premier League, Manchester City put up a strong showing in a game that deserved a great win to achieve this 24th victory.

After 17 matches between the two teams at this venue in the English Premier League, Manchester City’s victory in 15 games and a draw in two, Newcastle could not beat Manchester City again in the league at the “Al Ittihad” ground. With this stadium Newcastle learned that today’s win for Manchester City was the thirteenth in a row.

Manchester City finished the first half in the 19th and 38th minutes with two clean goals from Raheem Sterling and Eric LaBord, then secured the victory with three goals from Rodrigo Hernandez and Bill Foden in the second half. And Sterling in the 61st and 90th minutes, the third of extra time.
