The United Arab Emirates and Pakistan are cooperating on climate change and environmental protection
Aside from participating in the work of the State Parties Conference for the COP26 Framework Convention in Glasgow, United Arab Emirates, the United Arab Emirates has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Pakistan to enhance cooperation and joint action in various climates. The purpose of the memorandum is to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the areas of environment and climate change, renewable energy, climate-wise agriculture, drought management, environmental education and institutional strengthening.
Mariam Bint Mohammed Al Muhairi said: “Thanks to the brilliant vision of its leadership, the United Arab Emirates is keen to build bridges of international cooperation and collaboration to enhance its strategic priorities and capabilities within its future directions.”
He added: The United Arab Emirates has close ties with the Republic of Pakistan in a number of areas, including education, health, energy, infrastructure development, food security and the environment, and enhances the level of cooperation in enhancing this MoU. Under the Memorandum, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan will collaborate to enhance and expand current initiatives for ecosystem restructuring, promoting the “United Nations Decade of Environmental Reconstruction” objectives, climate-smart agro-practices and renewable energy solutions, and And implementing joint training programs to qualify experts in the fields of climate change, and initiating efforts to protect marine environment and blue carbon initiatives. It will work to improve the exchange of knowledge and experiences between educational institutions, implement innovative ideas and projects from educators, and collaborate in conducting environmental research.
The objectives of the collaboration will be achieved through a set of procedures, including the exchange of information, experiences, studies and publications in the target areas for collaboration, and the exchange of visits between experts to discuss technical aspects related to the adoption of climate-wise practices.
