On Sunday, Japanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Fumio Iwai revealed that although he had not converted to Islam, he had sought the Holy Quran to strengthen his significant scholarly Arabic language.

The Japanese ambassador said in a tweet on Twitter that he had started listening to Surat al-Fatihah, the first Surah of the Nobel Quran, “with the aim of strengthening and enhancing my Arabic language.”

The Japanese diplomat relied heavily on Twitter to communicate with the Saudis because it attracts millions and he shares with them photos and videos of his ongoing activities in the kingdom.

The ambassador receives invitations to eat and learn about the most popular Saudi dishes, and the citizens of the kingdom take part in their well-known traditional dances, including the most famous Saudi artha in those dances.

Ambassador Iwai chose to learn Arabic in Egypt 3 decades ago.

He was appointed ambassador to the kingdom earlier this year, and he served as deputy ambassador to Riyadh 10 years ago, as well as his country’s ambassador to Iraq, and he was known for his communication with the people. Their local language and dialect made him very popular.
