Electronic tracking of immigrants .. British experiment waiting for its benefits

Britain’s news agency PA Media reported on Saturday that Britain was implementing an electronic system to track people arriving in the UK in the back of small boats or trucks as part of a pilot program for the UK Home Office.

The ministry said the 12-month program, which began last Wednesday, would test whether electronic surveillance was a better way to grant bail to immigrants in immigration cases coming into the country in “unnecessary and dangerous” ways.

The move follows a European Court of Human Rights ruling last Tuesday banning a charter flight from Wiltshire to Kigali.

Interior Minister Priti Patel has accused the European Court of Human Rights of being “politicized by its utterly defamatory decision”, while Justice Minister Dominique Robb pointed out that the new laws could ensure the government’s boycott of the court’s interim proceedings in the French city of Strasbourg.
