The World Health Organization reports a “mysterious” increase in a disease affecting children

Date:

On Friday, the World Health Organization confirmed 920 cases of acute hepatitis in children in 33 countries, an increase of 270 cases compared to May.

According to the World Health Organization, half of the cases are reported in the European region, including 267 in the UK, while one-third of all potential cases are reported in the United States.

The organization points out that health officials around the world are investigating the mysterious increase in cases of acute hepatitis in children.

According to Reuters, the eruption was first reported in the UK in April and has since spread to dozens of other countries.

Hepatitis occurs when the liver cells become infected with the virus, and the disease destroys and damages the liver cells.

Sometimes people with hepatitis do not show any symptoms, but nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, loss of appetite, dryness of the skin or eyes and yellow, dark urine and pale stools are the most common.
