Capitals, July 1 / WAM / Global stocks made strong gains in the first half of the year, amid signs of easing inflation rates in the US.

The annual inflation rate in the US fell to 4 percent from 4.9 percent in May, the lowest annual rate since March 2021.

The US Wall Street stock market led global markets’ gains in the first half, with the “Nasdaq” index dominated by technology stocks rising 3321 points, or 31.7 percent, to 13787.92. 10466.48 points at the end of last year.

The “Standard & Poor’s” index, equivalent to 15.9 percent or 611 points, reached 4,450.38 points, compared to its previous level of 3,839.5 points at the end of last year, while the “Dow Jones Industrial Average” rose 3.8. Percent, increased by 1,260.4 points to reach a level of 34,407.6 points, compared to its previous level of 33147.25 points.

In European markets, the German “DAX” index rose 16 percent in the past month, or 2224 points, to reach 16147.9 points, compared to its previous level of 13923.59 points at the end of last year.

The “Euro Stoxx 50” index rose 16 percent, or 605.5 points, to end at 4399.09 points, compared with 3793.62 points, and the French “CAC” index gained about 926.3 points, or 14.3 percent, to close at 06,000 points. It was trading at 6473.76 points at the end of last year.

The British “FTSE 100” index rose 1.1 percent, or 79.8 points, to 7,531.53 points, while the European “Stoxx 600” index rose 8.7 percent, or 37 points, to 461 points. , compared to 424.89 points.

As for Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei index rose 27.2 percent, or 7,094.5 points, to close at 33,189.04 points in the first half of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, while the broader TOPICS index rose 21 percent to 396.9. points, 2288.6 points.

Performance of Chinese stocks was mixed, with the “SSE” index rising 3.7 percent, or 112.8 points, to end at 3202.06 points, while the “Hang Seng” index fell 4.4 percent to 865 points. It reached the level of 18916.43 points.

The Indian Senex index ended at 64,718.56 points, up 6.4 percent or 3,877.8 points, compared with 60,840.74 points at the end of last year.
