A Myanmar court has sentenced ousted Prime Minister Aung San Suu Kyi to four years in prison after she was found guilty of treason and corona activities, sources familiar with the investigation told the German News Agency (DPA) on Monday.

Sookie, 76, has been under house arrest since the military coup in early February.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Suu Kyi has been charged with a number of offenses, including violating foreign trade laws and corruption.

According to investigators, Suu Kyi could face up to 100 years in prison. Observers and human rights experts talk about a fake investigation and assume that they have long wanted to silence political celebrities in this way. The trial is set to begin in mid-June in the capital, Nairobi.

Sookie has been under house arrest for the past 15 years. In 2016, he became the real head of government.
