The Libyan parliamentary committee should contact the commission to discuss obstacles to the election

Date:

Members of the Libyan House of Representatives, during a session in Dobrook yesterday, Tuesday, agreed to set up a committee to liaise with the High National Electoral Commission to identify difficulties and obstacles facing the electoral process. The United Nations on Monday appointed US Ambassador Stephanie Williams as Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the Organization in Libya. The British and Dutch embassies in Libya have called on the UN to work for greater political, military and economic stability in Libya. Having expressed their support and willingness to work alongside the mission, that is where it will stay.

According to council spokesman Abdullah Blahak, the liaison committee with the Electoral Commission includes five members representing the legislature, the constitution, the interior, security, national security, justice and the council’s oversight bodies.

On the other hand, the United Nations on Monday announced the appointment of US Ambassador Stephanie Williams as Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General for Libya; A month before an important presidential election in that country, the UN. After the resignation of Ambassador John Kubis, it will reside in Tripoli.

Williams, who is fluent in Arabic, will serve as UN Secretary-General for Libya in Geneva in 2020, after serving as second-in-command between 2018 and 2020. Served as ambassador temporarily. Over the past year, Williams has repeatedly assisted in the peace process in Libya.

The appointment is subject to the powers of Antonio Guterres and does not require official approval from the fifteen members of the Security Council, which, unlike the position of the UN ambassador, avoids an embarrassing vacuum as the 24th presidential election approaches. This month, the page of the decade-long war will return. UN spokesman Stephen Dujarric stressed that the appointment of Williams as special adviser would ensure the presence of the UN leadership in a very smooth December.
