Free internet in 580 parks, beaches and buses in Abu Dhabi

The Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has revealed that 580 locations including parks, beaches and public transport buses are offering free internet service, ensuring the transformation of 6 parks in the emirate into smart parks designed with modern technologies. The department added that the internet service provided through the free “Hala Wi-Fi” network, in collaboration with telecom service providers in the country, aims to enhance the digital infrastructure and improve its experience and provide a wide range of public “Wi-Fi”. It pointed out that among the sites where internet service was provided, 478 sites in Abu Dhabi city were distributed in 17 parks, two beaches and 459 public transport buses. There are 78 sites in Al Ain city, distributed in 11 parks and 67 fringes. There are 24 locations in the Al Tafra area, distributed across 14 parks and 10 public transport buses.

The department explained that it aims to make the emirate’s parks smart, improve park visitors’ satisfaction, maintain environmental sustainability, improve the parks’ operational and management efficiency, and provide real-time and spatial data for the park. He added that next year, early 2024, the first phase will complete the conversion of 6 parks into smart parks, which will include 3 parks in Abu Dhabi city, two parks in Al Ain and one park in Al region. Tafra region, all emirate parks will be converted into smart parks in the coming phases.

Each smart park has 600 smart sensors and cameras equipped with modern technologies, which will help in future to know the number and location of parking spaces, crowding percentage etc. and help the park management and decision makers to monitor. All services.
