The “Women’s World Cup” for soccer and the participation of the Moroccan women’s team exposed once again the prevalence of the phenomenon of “digital violence”, with the appearance of many pages and accounts on social networks, insulting and bullying Moroccan female players. .

This wave of “violence” against female athletes has provoked the condemnation of many human rights organizations, which have demanded that competent authorities open investigations and approve judicial supervision against those responsible, while instigating. Others question the reasons for this phenomenon.

In contrast to a physical space, where citizens know they are subject to legal action if they transgress the border, there is a virtual space that a wider group considers a space for recreation and play. According to Adel Ghazali, a professor and researcher in social psychology, this justifies the widespread laxity in the level of relationship that governs them with others.

In this context, a researcher specializing in social psychology said that the danger associated with this issue is that the use of digital space is to some extent related to entertainment and entertainment in people’s minds, and the same system is not subject to laws. Because he knows that he is subject to legal action if he commits a crime, a defect in governing real estates or an infamous act against society and the law.

Ghazali also notes the lack of support and monitoring in the digital space, not to mention the weakness of transparent legal texts reaching society or their application and implementation.

In this context, the researcher “game theory; It is a theory developed by mathematicians according to which human relations are a game based on strategies such as “cooperative-cooperative”, “cooperative-non-cooperative” or “non-cooperative non-cooperative”. The latter refers to violence, moral scandals and intimidation that appear via the Internet, publishing images that offend the individual and creating images and videos with the intention of harming others without awareness of the consequences.

The first match against Germany made the players a laughingstock, said Ghazali, referring to the example followed by public opinion of what happened to the Moroccan women’s football team, which qualified for the second round with a major achievement in its first participation. And bullying shows that value judgments and stereotypes are already in the mindset of a group and looking for an appropriate context to express, highlighting that the context in this context is failure, collective consciousness is waiting for a moment. Filter the kind of ideas that pop up in football and driving and other fields, and every time a woman makes a mistake, her place is specifically said to be in the kitchen.

And the spokesman continued: “Thankfully, the women’s team corrected this image in the next two matches. When the same stereotype returned during the match with France, the bullies forgot that these women were defeated not against men, but against other women who won.

According to the researcher, the key entry to change this mindset is mainly through education, upbringing and sensitization through media, as well as the availability of strict legal texts that actually protect.

Ghazali emphasized the importance of the psychological aspect in this context, saying, “The last aspect to be paid attention to when offending people is the psychological aspect and the legal aspect. Peace returns and the sun is covered with a sieve.”
