Indiana Jones 5 tops the box office

The fifth film in the legendary “Indiana Jones” series got off to a strong opening in theaters where it opened, as it topped the North American box office, by a wide margin from its closest competitor.

“Indiana Jones and the Tale of Destiny” earned $60 million over the weekend in Canada and the United States, according to the special “Experience Relations” agency.

The film comes 15 years after the fourth part of the series, in which American star Harrison Ford reprises the role of the famous archaeologist, and this family tapestry is expected to be one of the strongest films of the year commercially. .

After Steven Spielberg, James Mangold took over directing, his signature four-parter since 1981. Disney, which acquired the rights to the series and the “Star Wars” franchise through its 2012 acquisition of “Lucasfilm,” had previously announced that this would be Harrison Ford’s last film in the role, marking a major part of his long career.

“Spider-Man – Across the Spider-Verse” slipped to second place on the box office chart as the latest installment in the “Spider-Man” series brought in $11.5 million in its fifth week. .

And Jennifer Lawrence-starrer “Sony” Studios’ “No Hard Feelings” took fourth place with $7.5 million.

And “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” was in fifth place with $7 million.
