The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday that it had shot down 5 warplanes and 19 drones targeting 36 Ukrainian military bases during the last 24 hours of military operations in Ukraine.

In a statement, Russian security said four Ukrainian Su-24 bombers had been shot down in the air over the northern Chernihiv province, and a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet had been shot down near Gramadorsk in Donbass.

The report also said that Russian forces had shot down five missiles fired by Ukrainian “Smerch” rocket launchers near the airport in the southern province of Gersen.

The report points out that the targets destroyed by Russian aircraft and missile forces in the past day include two anti-aircraft missiles and an anti-aircraft missile system.

Since the start of the operation on February 24, Russian forces have destroyed a total of 308 drones, 1,713 tanks and 170 Ukrainian missile launchers.

The report added that a group of Russian troops had penetrated two kilometers into the security area of the 95th Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and reached the southern suburbs of the city of Novosilovka in Donetsk.

According to the report, during the offensive, sections of the Lukansk People’s Republic advanced five kilometers, capturing the cities of Ivanovka and Novosatovy and reaching the Terni fortress on the border with the Donetsk Republic.
