Video of Putin’s speech being cut off in public on Russian television triggers a conversation

Date:

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists have circulated videos on social media of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech being shut down on state television.

Activists quoted the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Pesco as saying that the cause of the crash was a technical glitch.

CNN sources say that Russian authorities have instructed Moscow schoolteachers and state university students to attend a celebration attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, marking the eighth anniversary of Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

Sources who received a circular with these instructions sought the conduct of Russian authorities in a last-ditch effort to paint a picture that there is a united front in support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Many of those instructed said they had pressured CNN to move to Luzhniki Stadium in central Moscow, where Putin addressed the audience as his country entered its fourth week of invasion of Ukraine.
