2,500 Israeli strikes on Gaza since October 27

Date:

Violent clashes broke out in the northern Gaza Strip after the Israeli army confirmed it had split into two, while witnessing violent bombings last night, and the death toll in the area nearing ten thousand after a month of war.

On Monday, Israeli military spokesman Jonathan Conricus called on remaining civilians to leave the northern Gaza Strip, saying this would allow Israeli forces to “eliminate Hamas.”

The Israeli military said 2,500 major ground strikes had taken place since October 27 in an effort to dislodge Hamas fighters holed up in the tunnel network.

Earlier, the heads of several major United Nations organizations made a concerted appeal for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
The signatories said in a joint statement: “Entire populations are under siege and attack. They are without access to the basic necessities of life and are bombarded in homes, shelters, hospitals and places of worship. This is unacceptable.”
