SPARK to Launch ‘Sharjah Next’ Series with Flagship Event Showcasing Innovations in Healthcare

The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (recently rebranded as SPARK) has announced the launch of ‘Sharjah Next: Healthcare,’ a major international forum focused on “R&D in Healthcare.” Scheduled for 29–30 October, the event will bring together leading figures from government, industry, academia, and the startup community to explore advancements shaping the future of health technology.

As the opening edition in the new ‘Sharjah Next’ series, the forum has been conceived as a dynamic platform for highlighting breakthrough innovations in the healthcare sector. Designed to offer an immersive experience, the event will enable participants to engage directly with emerging technologies driving transformation in modern medicine.

Taking place across three interconnected venues within SPARK’s vibrant campus — including the open-air amphitheatre — the international forum and exhibition will serve as a collaborative space for healthcare innovators, industry executives, medical associations, pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, academic institutions, and representatives from government and regulatory bodies.

“Healthcare is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing sectors in the world today, driven by health technology,” says Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK. “So, to mark the launch of our ‘Sharjah Next’ series, we decided to select healthcare as the first sector to be highlighted in an innovative setting, since it forms one of the main pillars of the growth strategy of the SPARK ecosystem. We invite all those connected to the healthcare industry to be part of this event.”

Centred on human biology, the forum’s structure explores the journey from fundamental mechanisms to real-world applications through three key themes. The first, Brain, will focus on advancements in neuroscience and cognitive disorders, encompassing AI-assisted diagnostics, neuroplasticity, precision neurology, and brain–computer interfaces. The second, Cardiovascular & Metabolic, will highlight breakthroughs in molecular science, precision therapies, innovative drug delivery, and continuous digital monitoring. The third, Human Body, will examine revolutionary diagnostics and treatments such as cancer immunotherapies and next-generation delivery platforms, while also addressing the ethical implications of rapid biomedical innovation. This comprehensive framework bridges research and practice, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Innovation Architecture
The design of the programme recognises that healthcare innovation requires diverse forms of interaction across its lifecycle. The opening keynote panel will establish the event’s intellectual foundation and outline visionary goals. Themed discussions will offer in-depth exploration of specialised topics while maintaining cross-sectoral dialogue. A dedicated masterclass will then equip participants with practical skills to translate research insights into actionable outcomes. This deliberate progression from strategic vision to practical application exemplifies a mature understanding of how innovation ecosystems evolve.

Reflecting SPARK’s whole-of-ecosystem approach, the event has been built on strategic partnerships with BEEAH Group, Jawaher Boston Medical District, Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, Emirates Health Services, Sharjah Health Authority, and University Hospital Sharjah. Academic partnerships include the University of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah. Integrated exhibition and networking elements will further promote collaboration, technology transfer, and investment opportunities, catalysing the growth of a resilient healthcare innovation ecosystem in the region.
