First death from COVID-19 in New Zealand in 6 months

Date:

Yesterday, New Zealand recorded the first death linked to the corona virus in six months, although health officials on Saturday announced control of the last wave of infection caused by the delta mutation outbreak.

A ninety-year-old woman suffering from other illnesses died last night in a hospital in Auckland (north), where she could no longer be connected to a respirator or treated in intensive care.

Thus, New Zealand recorded the first death since Govt-19 after 16 February, bringing the total death toll to 27.

Authorities say a member of the woman’s family transmitted the virus to Auckland, the country’s largest city with a population of 1.7 million.

New Zealand has been dealing with the epidemic since the first local outbreak was reported in six months in mid-August, leading to the announcement of home isolation in a country of five million people.

Since then, 782 injuries have been reported, most of them in Auckland, where the stone is still at a maximum of 4, while in other parts of the country it has been reduced to 3rd.

Prime Minister Jacinter Artern said the death was “an unfortunate reminder of why the steps we are now taking are so important.”

Today, 20 new infections have been reported, at the peak of the last wave of epidemics compared to the 85 new infections recorded at the end of last week.
