Emirates News Agency – Drugs and pharmaceuticals business in Dubai grows 31% in the first quarter of 2021 to AED 6.8 billion

Dubai, July 10, 2021 (WAM) – The value of Dubai’s pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical overseas trade in the first quarter of 2021 reached AED 6.8 billion, up 31% from 5.2 billion in the same period in 2020. Dubai Customs.

Imports reached AED 5.3 billion, exports 590 million AED and exports and re-exports total AED 1.4 billion. In terms of volume, Dubai’s pharmaceutical and medical goods trade increased by 47%, from 33,000 tonnes to 48,600 tonnes in the first three months of 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Following the completion of the Ministry of Health Requirements and Prevention, Dubai Customs is committed to regulating the border clearance of medical supplies exports to ensure expeditious access to local, regional and global markets, which ensures high quality and efficiency for these key products. Protecting the health and safety of the community.

In light of the current COVID-19 scenario, Dubai Customs is increasing its demand for pharmaceuticals and medical products, as well as efforts to ensure the inspection, approval and issuance of these strategic products to meet and maintain the needs of the community.
