ABU DHABI, November 4, 2017 – The French Judo team retained their title at the Abu Dhabi Veterans Championship, which was held at the Sorbonne University Hall in Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of Deputy Ruler Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The competition was held as part of three Abu Dhabi World Championships organized by the UAE Judo Federation, under the supervision of the International Federation, with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The Abu Dhabi Veterans Championship was held on the concluding day of the Women’s Veterans Championship with 121 players from 33 countries out of 63 countries including both genders.
At the Warriors Championship, Team France topped the list with 46 medals (16 gold, 10 silver, 20 bronze), followed by Team Brazil with 27 medals (9 gold, 7 silver, 11 bronze), followed by Kazakhstan with 39 medals (8 gold, 11 silver, 20 bronze).
The Algerian national team topped the Arab world thanks to the victory of its player Houria Amor and her teammate Hafid Bouhla, who won bronze in the 57 kg category.
The Veterans Committee of the International Judo Federation has honored French athlete Françoise Dufresne since 1966 for her dedication to promoting the sport of veteran judo and supporting women’s participation in competition.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Taloub Al Tarei, Chairman of the Emirates Judo Federation, received a message from Marius Wieser, President of the International Judo Federation, in which he praised the success of the three tournaments, the great efforts taken and the coordinated availability. infrastructure.
