Cillian Murphy won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in Christopher Nolan's “Oppenheimer.”
During his speech after receiving the award, Murphy said: “When I first stepped onto Christopher Nolan's film set I knew it was going to be different. I could tell by the level of rigor, the level of focus and the level of dedication, I was in the hands of the mentor who was the director and the owner of the award. “View”.
“We had an amazing cast on this movie,” Murphy continued. “It's magical. Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Gary Oldman, thank you.”
This marks Murphy's first win and second career nomination, having been nominated for his role in the 2006 comedy/thriller Breakfast on Pluto. Oppenheimer also received nominations for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay and Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr. as Admiral Louis Strauss. He also won in the Cinematic Achievement category.
Murphy has captivated audiences and critics since the release of Oppenheimer's film in July 2023, with a strong performance of the character and an intimate relationship with him on a physical, stylistic and spiritual level. This performance was not strange to him, he got it. Many accolades for his previous works, in which he was a huge success.
Cillian Murphy is an Irish actor who started his career as a stage actor and later moved to film and television. Apart from Batman Begins, he is best known for portraying the role of gangster Thomas “Tommy” Shelby in the highly successful series Peaky Blinders. and Dunkirk, a frequent collaboration with Christopher Nolan.
In 1996, the 20-year-old Murphy auditioned for one of the lead roles in playwright Enda Walsh's Disco Bigs, embarking on an 18-month world tour across Europe, Australia and North America.
After the success of disco flicks such as Sweetie Barrett starring Brendan Gleeson in 1998 and The Trench in 1999, Murphy began landing small film roles.
Murphy had his first breakthrough with the horror film 28 Days Later in 2002, and said in a 2022 interview about the role that he initially struggled with the character's accent, but with the support of director Danny Boyle – he found Murphy when he saw it. At last, the horizon for his reincarnation opened – the film adaptation of Disco Pix.
Murphy explained that the film was huge in relation to his modest life before that, and opened the door to other projects, most notably when he was cast in a starring role in the film with Christopher Nolan the following year. Regarding Oppenheimer's portrayal of Murphy, Nolan described it as “one of my favorite moments in cinema”. Murphy spent five months in production before filming, losing weight and rehearsing his facial expressions to fit the scientist image, Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. Reporter: “I've always been there for Chris. I've always wanted to be in a Chris Nolan movie. What actor wouldn't want to do that?”
