ICBA publishes Women’s Coalition for Climate Action

The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture announced the hyperlink https://www.biosaline.org/ar (ICBA), launched the Women’s Climate Action Alliance (WACAA) during the Gender Equality Day activities at the COP28 conference, and the alliance aims to reach one million women by 2050 through four key axes: farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs in agriculture. These include: « Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer», « Fundraising», « Policy and Advocacy», and « Communication and Cooperation»…

An official high-level ceremony was held at the Conference of the Parties (COP28) chaired by UN Climate Chief Razan Al Mubarak, ICBA Board of Directors Chairman and Minister Maryam Bint Mohammed Al Muhairi. Climate Change and the Environment at the UAE Pavilion in the Blue Zone at Expo Dubai.

Maryam Al Muhairi said: “Although women make up 43% of the workforce in the global agricultural sector, they face many difficulties and challenges when it comes to skills, inputs and resources when they lack input into decision-making processes. Thus, gender inequality not only affects women but also has social and economic implications. “By addressing the gender gap and empowering women, we can reduce hunger and increase economic growth and resilience to climate change.”

Razan Khalifa Al-Mubarak said: “The goal of establishing a Women’s Coalition for Climate Action is clear and necessary as it unites the efforts of women leaders, scientists, policy makers, researchers, farmers and organizations. Achieving gender equality and reducing the impact of climate change on agriculture.

For her part, Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi, Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), said: “In line with ICBA’s mission to promote sustainable development, food security and women’s participation, the Women’s Alliance for Climate Action initiative exists. Climate Action.”
