In recent days, the Iranian Students’ News Agency reported on Wednesday that Iranian agricultural products exported to Russia, India, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates and Turkmenistan were being recalled due to the use of “substandard” pesticides.

“In the first eight months of this year, $ 170 million worth of pesticides and chemical fertilizers were imported into the country,” the company said.

“Imports of technical chemical pesticides have increased by 47% by weight and by 23% in value this year,” the company said, adding that imports of chemical fertilizers have declined by 28% by weight and by 14% in value.

According to the agency, agricultural products are particularly important in Iranian non-oil exports, and they have set new records, especially since last year.

Iran’s agricultural exports rose 25.9 percent to more than 7 million tonnes, valued at $ 4.9 billion, compared to the first ten months of last year, but “agricultural commodity revenues have taken alarming dimensions.”
