Mass displacement from central Sudan states and attacks in Darfur

Date:

The flow of displaced people from the cities and rural areas of central Sudan (al-Jazeera, Sennar and White Nile) states continued for more than a week after the fall of the state capital, Wad Madani. At the hands of Rapid Support Forces, the theft and looting of their properties is on the rise at a time when those who have committed to stay in their areas are living in dire humanitarian conditions.

Since the fall of Wat Madani, hundreds of thousands of civilians have fled for safety, especially since the city is a major displacement center. Millions took refuge in the capital, Khartoum, after the war broke out. Most of those who fled Wat Madani headed east to Gedaref, Kassala and Sennar states, while others migrated south to Sennar and White Nile states. They were stranded and stranded after rapid support troops prevented them from leaving.

Local residents of Al-Jazeera State said that the Rapid Support Forces, which seized control of Al-Jazeera State and its capital city of Wad Madani last week, have fully occupied the state's towns and villages in a very complicated light. They confirmed the humanitarian conditions in various parts of the state, and that civilians in those areas were left alone to face their fate with those forces and loose groups.

In addition, two international relief organizations suspended their operations in Al-Jazeera state following the looting of their warehouses by Rapid Support Forces, while the World Health Organization called for urgent measures to address the worsening health and humanitarian crisis in the country.

The World Food Program said it was forced to halt aid distribution in the state after a warehouse containing enough food for 1.5 million people for a month was looted. In turn, Médecins Sans Frontières said gunmen attacked its compound in the Al-Jazeera state capital of Wad Madani, stealing two cars and other items. At the level of military operations, witnesses in Nyala city, the capital of South Darfur state, said military aircraft carried out intense airstrikes yesterday targeting centers of the Rapid Support Forces, some of which fell in populated areas. This resulted in civilian casualties.
