Realme Narzo N55 Review – Pros and Cons, Verdict

Date:

Realme Narzo N55 is the first smartphone in the Narzo N range. The device is a budget offering that doesn’t change much from the previously launched Realme C55 (review). The Realme Narzo N55 comes with the same 90Hz FHD+ refresh rate, MediaTek chipset, camera setup, battery capacity, fast charging technology and software as the C-series smartphone. This raises the question for whom the Narzo N55 is best suited. Continue reading this review to find out.

What Realme C55 is to Flipkart, Realme Narzo N55 is to Amazon. Both the devices are almost identical except for their design and RAM capacity. The higher-end Realme Narzo N55 variant is equipped with 6GB of RAM instead of 8GB, but you can expect to pay Rs. If you are looking for more storage in the 13,000 price range, it might still be a better choice than the Realme C55.

  • Personally, I find the Realme C55 design more attractive than the Narzo N55. However, design can be subjective and some may find the Narzo N55’s two-tone design, or as Realme likes to call it, “Dynamic Binding Design”, more appealing. The phone has a glossy back, and the top is more glossy than the bottom. The matte surface effectively hides fingerprints and smudges. Besides, this phone offers similar build and design as Realme C55. Smartly, the Narzo N55 is made of a plastic body and has flat edges that provide good grip. The phone weighs 189 grams and is 7.9 mm thick, which makes it comfortable to hold for long periods of time. In addition, the rear panel has slightly longer camera rings, which look larger compared to the two sensors. The phone has a pill-shaped LED flash that fits into the body. For I/O, the phone has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker grill, on the bottom edge. The fingerprint scanner is located above the power button on the right spine of the device.

Realme Narzo N55 03 Review

  • Apart from this, the performance and functionality of Realme Narzo N55 is similar to Realme C55. The phone has a 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS display that looks great both indoors and outdoors. It’s clear even in direct sunlight, with its 680 nits peak brightness and 90Hz refresh rate working smoothly across the user interface and supported apps. Also, thanks to Widevine L1 support, the phone can stream 1080p content from Netflix and other OTT platforms. The angles are decent and the edges are reasonable for the price. Overall, it’s a good screen for the price.
  • The Realme Narzo N55 also features a punch-hole design for the selfie camera, which expands to form a tablet shape for visual notifications such as charging, data usage and closed steps. The feature is still in testing and needs to be enabled from the Realme Lab section in the phone’s Settings menu.

Realme Narzo N55 Review – Pros and Cons, Verdict

  • Under the hood, the Narzo N55 packs a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of user-expandable storage. Like the C55, the Norso’s performance is satisfactory. The phone struggles a bit during demanding tasks like playing graphically demanding games, but otherwise it performs well and can handle even basic multitasking. On the software side, the phone runs Realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13 out of the box. You can read more about it in my review of Realme C55.

Realme Narzo N55 05 Review

  • For photography, the Realme Narzo N55 has dual rear cameras with a 64MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. There is an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. Like the C55, the Narzo N55 produces excellent daylight shots with good focus, calibrated exposure and ample detail. However, the colors may look a bit overdone, which is acceptable considering the reasonable price of the smartphone. In indoor and low-light scenes, images appear grainy, lack color accuracy, and suffer from focusing speed. A dedicated night mode reduces noise levels, but detail and sharpness may suffer. Realme Narzo N55’s portrait mode produces grainy shots with decent edge detection.
Slider
  • The Realme Narzo N55 packs a 5,000mAh battery that should easily last a full day with regular usage. The phone comfortably lasted a full day, and I had about 20 percent juice left in the tank. The device supports 33W fast charging which will fully charge the phone in less than two hours. However, the side-mounted fingerprint scanner needs improvement as it sometimes fails to unlock the device in a single attempt. Additionally, the phone’s speaker quality is nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done.

Final verdict

Realme Narzo N55 Review – Pros and Cons, Verdict

The Realme Narzo N55 is priced in India at Rs 10,999 for the 4GB + 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB + 128GB storage option is priced at Rs 12,999. Apart from the Realme C55 which starts at the same price, it competes with the fifth generation Infinix Note 12i phone And this Infinix Hot 20It has a 60Hz AMOLED screen.

If you are looking for a budget smartphone on Amazon then Realme Narzo N55 is a good buy. The phone comes with a good screen, decent battery life and daytime cameras. Additionally, the Narzo N55 128GB storage variant is cheaper than its competitors.
