The Egyptian Football Association announced on Tuesday the appointment of Portuguese “Roy Vitoria” as coach of the Egyptian national football team under a four-year contract.
In a brief statement on social networking site Facebook, the Egyptian Federation announced that a contract has been signed with the Portugal coach to lead the Egyptian national team for the next 4 years.
Who is that man?
Rui Vitoria is a 52-year-old Portuguese former footballer and coach.
He began his career as a player in the Portuguese third division and ended up in the Lisbon region with Villafrancação, which currently plays in the second division of the Portuguese league.
He retired from playing in 2003 at the age of 32.
He started his coaching career with Portuguese club Villafrancoense in 2004 and has also coached Fátima, Pacos, Guimarães and Benfica in the same country.
One of his most important training centers is the Portuguese team “Benfica”, where he trained in 2015 and continued with them for 3 years, during which he won the Premier League twice in 2016 and 2017, the Portuguese Cup once, the League Cup once, and the League Cup twice. Portugal Super Cup title.
He moved from Vitoria Benfica to coach Saudi Al-Nasr in 2019 and led them to win the Saudi League and Saudi Super Cup, and qualify for the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League 2020.
Al Nasr left the club at the end of last season after a string of negative results to enter a short training experience with Russian side Spartak Moscow that lasted no more than 6 months.
According to Egyptian media reports, the Portuguese coach will earn 2.4 million euros annually under the contract.

As for his plans for the game, the new Portuguese coach wants intense pressure from the Barrows in the first half, and attacks in every possible way in search of goals.
In the second half, the team reverts to reserves, closing defenses and relying on quick recovery to preserve its progress, according to football analysts.
According to reports, Vitoria will arrive in Cairo next week to begin her stint with the Pharaohs and she will attend the Egypt Cup final between Al-Ahly and Zamalek scheduled for July 21.
