Russia is focused on diverting units to bolster its offensive in southern Ukraine

Date:

Britain’s military intelligence agency said yesterday that Russia’s priority last week could divert units to bolster its campaign in southern Ukraine.

Ukraine and Russia have exchanged accusations over multiple bombings at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine.

Early in the war, Russian forces captured the nuclear power plant.

According to a British intelligence update, Russian-backed forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic in the Donbass continued to attempt attacks north of Donetsk city.

The British Ministry of Defense said in its daily intelligence bulletin on Twitter that heavy fighting had intensified in the village of Pesky, near Donetsk airport.

On Saturday, the Ukrainian military command said “heavy fighting” was continuing in Pesky, a village in the east of the country, which Russia previously claimed was in full control.
