The International Astronomical Union (IAU) said on its official website that “most countries will explore the crescent moon of Ramadan on Friday, the 29th of Sha’ban, the Hijri year.”

But the observation confirmed that “it is not possible to see the crescent on this day with the naked eye from anywhere in the Islamic world, but only with great difficulty using a telescope from simple parts of the West African continent.”
