The Ministry of Community Development, in conjunction with the Autism Awareness Month (April 2022), launched a campaign to support people with autism with the aim of educating the community about these types of people under the slogan “Inclusive and Good Education for All”. , Spreading the culture of inclusive education, and promoting, supporting and rehabilitating the autistic section. It is a set of quality initiatives that improve the Ministry’s vision of achieving better inclusive education, based on the “National Policy for People with Autism”. , And within the framework of quality efforts of families and parents, or various centers of autism centers and community.

The “National Policy for Autism,” approved by the Cabinet in April last year, with a vision of “United for Autism” creates an integrated set of procedures and standards for providing more accessible services. For people with autism and their parents.

Nasser Ismail, the ministry’s deputy secretary for social affairs, said the ministry registered 4,561 autism cases statewide, with 885 women and 3,676 men making up more than 80% of the total autism segment. The total number of citizens with autism reached 2004 cases at the Emirates level, and 44% of the total, indicating that there are 72 centers specializing in providing education and rehabilitation to people with autism at the state level. With about 1667 male and female students enrolled in the Autism category, they are offered a variety of rehabilitation, educational and therapeutic services because the Ministry is interested in licensing centers for special resolution students in the country. These centers provide specialized education services and supportive care services, as well as some professional rehabilitation and early intervention services.

For his part, Wafa Hamad bin Suleiman, director of the Department of Strong Peoples Care and Rehabilitation, revealed the ministry’s intention this month to publish a guideline on autism that explains all the facts and practices for various relevant groups. In addition to organizing a Ramadan forum this month to support people with autism and their parents, the ministry, through its website, launched a 55-story “Autism Site”. Social stories published over the past years cover a wide variety of social situations in which people with autism may encounter, providing them with the most important situations in which they need preparation, training, and mastery based on responding to parental requests. Social stories that develop the ability of people with autism to cope in their environment. The electronic site for autism also aims to provide information on parents, experts and those interested in the most important topics and those with autism.
