Swiss international Harris Al Wasl completes overseas contract

Al-Wasl Club announced its contract with Swiss international striker Haris Seferovic, Benfica, Portugal, extended for two seasons until 2025, to complete the “Emperor” contract for next season, the team list with five players.

Al Wasl Football Company published a tweet on its Twitter account announcing that it will complete the signing process with the Swiss international after the 2024-2025 season.

The Swiss international has a strong resume as he developed through the youth ranks of Swiss club Lucerne, first playing at professional level with the Swiss Grasshoppers before moving to Italian side Fiorentina in 2010.

Seferović has had many professional experiences, notably with Spanish clubs Real Sociedad, German Eintracht Frankfurt, Portuguese Benfica and Turkish Galatasaray, and last season he played on loan to Spanish club Celta Vigo before returning to Benfica after the end of last season.

The Swiss striker played 18 matches with Celta Vigo, scoring three goals and making one assist. He played 188 matches with them, scoring 74 goals and providing 24 assists. In 96 games, Frankfurt scored 19 goals and played 13 decisive balls.

Internationally, Haris Seferovic is fifth in the all-time record goalscorer for the Swiss national team with 25 goals, having made 93 appearances for his country and scoring one goal in 10 matches at the World Cup. He scored three goals in nine appearances at the European Cup of Nations and his last match with the Swiss national team in a European Cup qualifier against Romania last month ended in a 2-2 draw on June 19.

The new Al Wasl striker won the Portuguese international top scorer title in the 2018-2019 season, contributed to Benfica winning the league title, won the Europa League top scorer title in 2019 and was the best player in Switzerland in the same year. Won Turkish League titles and Super Cup with Galatasaray. The Portuguese twice with Benfica, and he won the U-17 World Cup with the Swiss national junior team.
