The Arabs are ready to mediate between Russia and Ukraine


Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shokri has announced that the Arab League is ready to act as mediator in the talks between Russia and Ukraine.

After holding talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Ukraine and with the Arab League’s Ministerial Liaison Committee, Shokri said, “We aim to facilitate direct talks between Russia and Ukraine. We are ready to provide mediation efforts to advance this negotiation process. As soon as possible, begin negotiations to build trust and define the foundations and criteria for a peaceful solution to this crisis. “
The Egyptian foreign minister added: “We urge all parties to the conflict to end the conflict and not to use military means to resolve the issue, and we call for a diplomatic solution and initial dialogue.”

The Arab League stressed the need to ensure the security of the Arab community in Ukraine.
