Today, residents of the Tonga archipelago have fled into the heights, with the aftermath of a tsunami caused by a new massive eruption of the volcano “Honga Tonga Honga Ha Abai” reaching hundreds of kilometers away and the sixth king being evacuated from the royal palace at Alofa towards Alupa .

The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued. The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.

“It’s a big explosion,” Meri Taufa, a local who was having dinner at home when it happened, told the staff news site.

She explained, “The house shook. My brother thought bombs were exploding near our house. A few minutes later, water seeped into their house and she saw the wall of a nearby house collapse.

“We immediately realized it was a tsunami and this water flowed into the house,” he said. We heard screams everywhere and everyone started running to higher ground.

Fiji officials said the eruption lasted about eight minutes and was loud enough to hear “thunder-like noises from a distance” over the 800-kilometer Fiji Islands.
