US agency cancels actress Susan Sarandon’s contract for supporting Palestine


On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, American actress Susan Sarandon joined the list of artists affected by her stance in support of the Palestinian cause, as Newsweek magazine confirmed that talent agency UTA had canceled its contract with the Oscar-winning actress. He has been managing his business since 2014.

On Friday, November 18, Sarandon took part in a demonstration by thousands on the streets of New York City, where she held up banners calling for an end to the war on Gaza. In a statement to Deadline during the demonstration, he said, “There are many people who are savoring the feeling of being a Muslim at this time.” In this country.

Sarandon also took to social media to express her support for Palestine by writing and sharing posts on the “X” site – previously on “Twitter”. He reposted a statement from British musician Roger Waters from the band “Pink Floyd”. He supported the Palestinians and demanded an end to the bombing of Gaza.

The 77-year-old actress faced calls to withdraw after reposting a photo of herself on stage at the #March4Palestine protest in Washington, DC in early November.

“You don’t have to be Palestinian to worry about what’s happening in Gaza. I stand with Palestine. No one is free until everyone is free,” she wrote alongside a photo with members of the Palestinian Feminist Assembly.

The Hollywood actress’ history is full of positions in support of minority rights in the United States and around the world, as she has championed many causes throughout her career, previously serving as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and has been honored with Action. Against Hunger Humanitarian Award in 2006.

In December 2021, Sarandon also posted a graphic of South African anti-apartheid activist Desmond Tutu, which read, “Israel will never find true safety and security by oppressing another people. True peace will ultimately only be built on justice.”
