He is the physicist Mohamed Abdel Salam, who was honored by the whole world and won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979, because his research contributed to laying the foundations of one of the most important theories in particle physics. The discovery of the “Higgs Boson” particle is what causes all other particles to acquire their mass.

Abdel Salam developed the theory of the neutrino, a subatomic particle whose existence was postulated by Pauli in 1930, and conducted research that resulted in his Nobel Prize for his theory of the “electroweak force”. “Describes the fundamental particles, the smallest building blocks that make up matter in the universe, and how they interact. Abdel Salam combined the principles of the electromagnetic force with the weak force in one theory.

Despite the fact that he belonged to the Ahmadiyya Muslim sect, which originated in India and remained peaceful and aloof from politics, Pakistan pursued its followers fiercely. To get the Nobel Prize, the Pakistani authorities, under pressure from the extremists there, punished the word Muslim crosswise. On his grave!

Abdul Salam was born in 1926. He suffered so much in his childhood that he never saw the light of day until he went to Lahore to enter a government university!

His talents in physics and mathematics qualified him for a Cambridge fellowship, but he returned to teaching at the University of Lahore despite the urgings of the British. Ahmadiyya community is non-Muslim and it deprives them of their rights. In 2010, two mosques of the Ahmadiyya community in Pakistan were attacked, resulting in 94 deaths and 120 injuries and the looting of their shops.

Abdul Salam left Pakistan as a result of this persecution by his sect, but despite all this he remained patriotic and did not forget his country. In 1961, Abdul Salam established Pakistan’s space program and participated in it in the early seventies of the twentieth century. “Abdul Salam’s” contributions to Pakistan’s efforts in nuclear weapons research, however, ceased in 1974 when Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto issued a new law to clamp down on followers of the Ahmadiyya sect, after which Abdul Salam publicly opposed nuclear weapons. His Islamic identity five years before he was awarded the Nobel Prize!

Nevertheless, he denied British and Italian nationalities!

In 1964, the International Center for Theoretical Physics was founded in Italy to provide places for students from poor developing countries to follow scientific and academic developments around the world.

This is the story of a Muslim scholar who chased fundamentalism even in his grave!
