Amazon bans 600 Chinese brands due to fake reviews

Date:

U.S. e-commerce company Amazon.com has reportedly banned more than 600 Chinese brands from 3,000 stores due to fake product reviews.

The Verge news site also quoted an Amazon spokesman as saying that these Chinese brands were in flagrant violation of Amazon’s policies, especially in relation to the abuse of ratings and comments.

The list of banned brands includes Oki, M-Po, RAV Power, Wafa, Tao Tronics and Sevtech.

The ban was announced by the South China Morning Post, citing Cindy Dai, vice president of international sales for Amazon in the Asian region.

After Nicholas Newen published a report in the American Wall Street Journal, Amazon launched a campaign against fake and targeted criticism.

Amazon has banned the publication of paid or directed reviews on its network since 2016. However, marketers continue to use this restricted method by offering disguise offers for review by authors.
