Dubai Indian Restaurant Unveils Flag-Themed Desserts for Republic Day Weekend

Indian diners in Dubai looking to celebrate Republic Day this month have a new reason to visit Rohini, the Indian restaurant at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The venue has launched a special menu for the occasion, headlined by a trio of desserts designed to mirror the orange, white, and green of India’s national flag.

The patriotic sweet selection comprises Tiranga Kalakand, Pistachio Malai ke Motichur, and Jalebi with Kesar Rabdi. Each dish takes inspiration from traditional Indian confectionery whilst adding a visual twist that aligns with the Republic Day theme. For guests seeking something beyond the usual dining experience, these tricolour creations offer both nostalgia and novelty.

Running from 24th through 26th January, the Republic Day offering comes in the form of a set menu available throughout the day. It’s timed to coincide with the long weekend, positioning itself as an accessible option for families and groups marking the national holiday away from home.

Beyond the headline desserts, the set menu delivers a comprehensive spread of Indian cuisine. Diners can select from both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, with the starter and main course lineup featuring recognizable favourites from across regional Indian cooking traditions.

The savoury selection includes Dahi Bhalla, Zafrani Murgh Tikka, Dal Makhni, Rajasthani Laal Maas, Paneer Methi Malai, and Purani Dilli-style pulao. The range provides variety across different regional styles and dietary preferences, though it’s the closing act of tricolour desserts that gives the menu its distinctive Republic Day character.

Rohini has established itself as a familiar destination for Indian food in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers area. The restaurant operates within Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers, a contemporary property housing 168 luxury rooms and suites in one of Dubai’s busy residential and commercial districts.

The hotel sits close to several of Dubai’s major areas, making it accessible for both residents and visitors. Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, the parent brand, operates more than 90 properties across 27 countries and has built a reputation around culinary focus and dining experiences.

For the Republic Day weekend, Rohini opens its doors daily from 12:30 PM until 11:30 PM. The vegetarian set menu is priced at AED 139 per person, whilst the non-vegetarian option costs AED 159 per person. Both menus include the tricolour dessert selection.

The timing offers flexibility for different dining occasions, whether lunch gatherings, early evening meals, or late dinners. With the full-day availability across the three-day period, the restaurant is positioning itself to accommodate varying schedules during the holiday weekend.

The emphasis on visual presentation through the tricolour desserts reflects a broader trend in festive dining, where thematic elements add an extra layer to the culinary experience. For Dubai’s substantial Indian community, such offerings provide a way to observe national occasions whilst dining out in their adopted city.

Rohini’s approach combines familiar flavours with celebratory presentation, creating what the restaurant hopes will be a memorable way to mark Republic Day. The set menu format simplifies decision-making for diners whilst ensuring the special desserts remain the centrepiece of the experience.

Reservations can be made by calling +971 4 438 0064. The restaurant maintains an active presence on Instagram under the handle @rohini.dubai, where further details and imagery of the Republic Day menu are available.

For Indian expatriates and food enthusiasts in Dubai, the Republic Day menu at Rohini offers a straightforward way to acknowledge the occasion through food. Whether the draw is the patriotic desserts, the classic Indian dishes, or simply the opportunity to dine out during the long weekend, the restaurant has created an option that taps into both celebration and convenience.

The three-day availability window gives ample opportunity for interested diners to fit a visit into their Republic Day plans, whilst the JLT location serves the surrounding residential community as well as those travelling in from other parts of Dubai.

With its blend of traditional Indian cooking and festive theming, Rohini’s Republic Day initiative exemplifies how restaurants in Dubai’s diverse dining scene cater to the cultural calendars of their varied clientele. The tricolour desserts, in particular, provide that Instagram-worthy moment that has become increasingly important in contemporary dining culture, without sacrificing the substance of the broader menu offering.
