Former South Korean dictator Sun Doo-hwan has died at the age of 90.
The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the former general had died at his home in Seoul.
The Sun Do-Hwan regime oversaw South Korea’s strong economic growth and was proud to host the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
He was the first South Korean president to hand over power peacefully.
Chun came to power in a 1979 military coup that assassinated President Park Geun-hye.
He ruled the country with an iron fist between 1980 and 1988 and violently suppressed any political opposition. He is still one of the most hated people in South Korea.
