Bodoor Al Qasimi honors winners of Sharjah Book Awards and Etisalat Children’s Book Awards

Sheikha Bodoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Book Authority, honored the award winners of the 42nd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2023 and the winners of the 15th edition of the “Etisalat Children’s Book Award”. , during a special ceremony within the activities of the fair.

The awarding ceremony was attended by Sheikha Bodur bint Sultan Al Qasimi, CEO of Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmad bin Rakhat Al Ameri and numerous officials, writers, intellectuals and media personalities.

At the level of awards of the exhibition dedicated to Emirati books, the writer Dr. The novel “It Happened in Sabya” by Swaad Al-Araimi won the award in the “Best Emirati Book in the Novel” category. Dr. Ayesha Ahmed, author of “Women in Emirati Popular Proverb… A Cultural Reading of Popular Discourse” won. Al Qais won in the “Best Emirati Book in Research” category.

In the “Best Emirati Book in the Field of Literary Creativity” category, it went to poet Najad Al Taheri’s collection “The Dark One”, and was awarded “Best Emirati Book in the Field of Debut Novel”. For the novel “A Deaf Instrument” by writer Mona Abdel Ghader Al Ali. Novelist Ahmad Dibawi’s novel “Bab al-Wadi” won the “Best Arabic Book in Fiction” award and “An Andalusian Adventure” won the “Best Foreign Book Award”. Author Siada Jalali won in the “Best Foreign Fiction Book” category, while author Hoda Al-Ghosn’s book “The Complete Company – Memoirs” won the “Best Foreign Non-Fiction Book” category.

In terms of publishing house awards, “Malame Publishing and Distribution” won the “Best Local Publishing House” award, “The Egyptian Lebanon House” from the Arab Republic of Egypt won the “Best Arab Publishing House” category, while “OM Box” from India won the “Best Foreign Publishing House” category. International won. Sheikha Bodoor Al Qasimi honored the winners of the 15th edition of the “Etisalat Children’s Book Award” organized by “Emirates Council on Books on Youth” and sponsored by “Etisalat P&E”. The book “Feelings…Feelings” by Saudi Arabian author Fatima Al-Sadoun was honored, and the book “Elephant on My Finger” by author and painter Abdullah Al Sharhan was honored. In the “Chapters with a Book” category, “Destroying the World in 46 Seconds” by author Mace Dagger received the honor, while “Mary’s Throat” by author Rania Pathe, illustrated by Aya Kamis, was honoured. And the book “Song of Water” written by author Muhannat Al-Aqwus, illustrated by Aya Qamis.
