Emirates NBD nine-month profit rises 2% to AED 19.3 billion as income climbs 15%

By GST 2 min read

Emirates NBD made a profit after tax of AED 19.3 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 2% on the same period of 2025, according to the results the Dubai bank filed with the Dubai Financial Market on 21 October 2026. Profit before tax rose 4% to AED 24.3 billion, which the bank described as a record.

Income grew faster than profit. Total income reached AED 42.2 billion, up 15% year on year, while operating expenses rose 19% to AED 13.3 billion. The bank said profit before tax rose despite higher impairment and hyperinflation charges. Impairment allowances were AED 2.1 billion, which it said were “primarily driven by provisioning in DenizBank partially offset by continued recoveries in Emirates NBD”.

How the figures compare with 2025

The bank’s own financial review sets the first nine months of 2026 against the same period of 2025.

Nine months to 30 September 2026 2025 Change
Total income AED 42.2 billion AED 36.7 billion 15%
Net interest income AED 29.4 billion AED 25.8 billion 14%
Operating expenses AED 13.3 billion AED 11.2 billion 19%
Operating profit before impairment AED 29.0 billion AED 25.5 billion 14%
Profit before tax AED 24.3 billion AED 23.4 billion 4%
Tax AED 5.0 billion AED 4.4 billion 13%
Profit AED 19.3 billion AED 19.0 billion 2%

In the same period of 2025 the impairment line was a positive AED 0.3 billion rather than a charge. A hyperinflation adjustment took a further AED 2.6 billion off profit before tax, compared with AED 2.4 billion a year earlier.

In the third quarter alone, profit before tax was AED 8.0 billion, the same as in the second quarter. Group Chief Financial Officer Patrick Sullivan said the figure demonstrated “the consistent performance we have delivered across all quarters so far this year.”

A larger balance sheet after the RBL Bank deal

Total assets stood at AED 1,379 billion on 30 September 2026, against AED 1,139 billion a year earlier. Gross loans rose to AED 833 billion from AED 628 billion and deposits to AED 935 billion from AED 760 billion.

Part of that growth comes from the RBL Bank acquisition in June 2026. Excluding RBL Bank, Emirates NBD’s loans grew 18% in the year to date and deposits 12%. The bank has also agreed to buy HSBC Egypt’s retail banking business.

The non-performing loan ratio fell to 2.0% from 2.5% a year earlier. The common equity tier 1 ratio was 13.4%, down from 14.7%.

For the bank’s customers

The release says the ENBD X app now offers 237 services, up from 150 when it launched in 2023, and that a Rewards Hub for customer rewards and benefits has been added to the app. The bank reports 1,399 branches and 4,967 ATMs and SDMs across the UAE and its overseas markets.

Emirates Islamic

Emirates Islamic, whose Chairman, Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, is also Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates NBD, reported separately on 21 October 2026. Operating profit rose 7% to AED 3.3 billion and net profit was AED 2.7 billion, which he described as “broadly stable year-on-year”. Total income rose 6% to AED 4.7 billion, customer financing grew 14.4% to AED 101.6 billion and customer deposits grew 13.4% to AED 115.8 billion over the first nine months of 2026. Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Kamran Wajid said the bank “provides banking services to over 45,000 SMEs operating in the UAE.”

The Emirates NBD figures were also published by the Government of Dubai Media Office.
