DUBAI, September 21 / WAM / The International Micromobility and Sports Federation and the Dubai Sports Council announced that the first edition of the Dubai Electric Scooter Cup will take place on December 16, featuring 16 of the best riders and bikes in the world.
A circuit will be specially designed for the championship, the first of its kind in downtown Dubai, allowing riders to drive past the city’s famous landmarks at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour.
The International Federation announced the design of the “RS-Zero Scooter” DXB version especially for the Dubai Cup, and it is the world’s fastest racing scooter, with a top speed of over 140 km/h.
The international consortium is leading the campaign to develop micromobility as a new and exciting form of racing and more sustainable mobility within cities via small vehicles.
Alex Voors, President of the International Federation of Micromobility and Sports, said: “We are delighted to host this race in a city that strives to find new mobility solutions. This is a historic agreement for the Federation with the Dubai Sports Council. A bright future.”
Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, explained that the event will showcase drivers’ skills, manufacturers’ innovations and the industry’s best opportunities for this type of modern means of transport. A clean and fast-spreading means of transportation is poised to become a means of competition in a fast-paced sports world.
