Emirates News Agency – Emirates Publishers Association collaborates with an international organization to provide advanced bibliographic data

Sharjah, August 22, WAM, The Emirates Publishers Association announced the activation of its existing partnership with Nielsen Bookdata, which specializes in providing book distribution services and measuring their sales internationally. and driving the growth of the publishing industry in the UAE.

Through this collaboration, the association seeks to open new horizons for its members to expand the scope of their work, establish strategic partnerships, and explore new opportunities for selling, buying, and translating copyrights.

In the framework of this collaboration, Nielsen Book Data has so far contacted 134 publishers, obtained book data files or metadata for printed books from about 56 publishers, held 65 meetings with key publishers and succeeded in increasing the number. Books indexed with “thema” (thematic classification) classification for 9277 titles.

Rashid Al Ghous, Managing Director of Emirates Publishers Association, emphasized the importance of this partnership to advance the publishing industry in the Emirates and enhance Emirates Publishing’s presence regionally and globally. He said: “We are very pleased to move forward with our strategic partnership with Nielsen Book Data to consolidate our position on the international publishing map, as this collaboration enables us to use standard bibliographic data, which will improve the efficiency of the association’s database and Emirati publishers.” .

He expressed his deep appreciation for Sheikha Bodoor Al Qasimi’s wise leadership and quality efforts in laying strong foundations for the maintenance and development of the Emirati publishing industry and commended the association for the positive impact its efforts have had in advancing the industry. .

The association signed a partnership agreement with “Nielsen Bookdata” last November 2022. Accordingly, the company leverages its expertise in serving publishers in the UAE, prioritizing the support it provides to members of the association.

In collaboration with cataloging and marketing support, the association and Nielsen Book Data will jointly organize a series of workshops; The association dedicates its efforts to enriching the Arab cultural scene at the regional level, asserting its leading position in the protection of copyrights, and supporting Emirati authors and publishers, in order to promote Emirati publishers’ knowledge of international best practices in the publishing industry. .
