Emirates News Agency – Maryam Al Muhairi: The “Stopping One Billion Meals” project is a pioneering step in the UAE’s efforts to end world hunger.

DUBAI, 20th March, 2020 (WAM) — His Highness Maryam bint Mohammed Al Muhairi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, confirmed that the one billion food aid program launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister. The UAE Minister and Ruler of Dubai (may God protect him), is a pioneer in supporting the UAE’s efforts to eradicate world hunger.

His Highness said in a statement: “The (One Billion Food Donation) program represents an extension of the philanthropic approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul). Wise leadership aimed at extending the arms of goodness to the diverse peoples of the world… While seeking, in many countries, The world is moving towards eliminating all forms of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition. Her Excellency added: “The UAE is aware of these challenges, and in addition to its relentless efforts to improve its food security and find solutions to its challenges, it is working with various partners and international organizations to provide more food and humanitarian assistance at all times, and respond promptly to urgent appeals, especially crises.” and during disasters.” In addition to contributing to the establishment of development programs to improve food security in many communities around the world.

He affirmed that the program (a donation of one billion meals) represents the culmination of the government’s efforts in this regard with the approach of the blessed month of Ramadan, demonstrating the continuity of the UAE’s – leadership and people – attitude of mercy and compassion. It reflects the highest humanitarian principles on which it is based.
