The Abu Dhabi team currently leads the race with 17 boats from various parts of Europe under the captaincy of Rashid Al Qamsi and Mansoor Al Mansoori with two boats, Abu Dhabi 35 and Abu Dhabi 36.
The Abu Dhabi team will be looking to build on the positive results achieved in the first round in Lithuania, which saw Rashid Al Qamsi’s crowning glory, as it currently leads the overall championship standings with 20 points, followed by Estonian racer Stefan Renaud with 15 points. points, with Monaco’s Giacomo Sacchi third.
Al Qamsi has won the world championship title three times in 2017, 2019 and 2021 and is looking for a fourth title this season.
Rashid Al Qamsi, head of the overall standings, confirmed the difficulty of the task tomorrow amid the competitive atmosphere with the remaining participants, explaining the first round of the first flight gate especially as everyone seeks to continue to compete for the title. One of the most difficult stages and a drastic change can be seen in the results.
Nasser Al Taheri, who will appear on “Radio Man” tomorrow with Al Qamsi, said that he is preparing for this round by giving him various instructions throughout the tournament and informing him of news from the organizing committee. The training camp contributed to the development and refinement of Al Qamsi’s skills through pre-round drills.
He said that the race course will extend to 6 different air gates with an extended distance and at some places will see overtaking competition between the boats and the total length of the course is 1,600 meters.
