Flydubai has carried over 90 million passengers in 14 years

Yesterday, Flydubai celebrated its 14th anniversary and on June 1, 2009, the company welcomed its first passengers on the inaugural flight FZ 157 from Dubai to Beirut.

In addition to opening more than 75 new destinations, the airline said in a statement yesterday that it has achieved several milestones in 14 years, with a network spanning 120 destinations in 52 countries from Italy to Thailand. While carrying more than 90 million passengers, its workforce has grown to around 5,000 employees representing 136 countries, while its fleet size has grown to 78 Boeing 737 aircraft.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Maktoum, Supreme Chairman of FlyDubai, said yesterday: “It was 14 years ago today that the first (flyDubai) flights took off and changed the concept of travel in the region.

We celebrate the 14th anniversary of (FlightBoy) and we appreciate the efforts of the task force and wish the airline further excellence and success in line with the vision of our brilliant leadership.” For his part, Ghaith Al-Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, said: “14 years ago, our first flight took off with a commitment to make travel accessible and support Dubai’s economic and tourism goals, while our passengers are our priority and at the heart of everything we do.” He added: “I am proud of the growth we have achieved in this journey, we have always been able to adapt to changing market factors and customer needs and we have played a key role in the success story of air travel in Dubai.
