Government Agencies Gain AI-Powered Data Security Platform Through New AWS GovCloud Deployment Option

Federal agencies, contractors, and partners handling sensitive government data now have a new option for deploying advanced artificial intelligence-driven data security tools whilst maintaining strict compliance with federal requirements.

Concentric AI revealed on Jan. 13, 2026, that its Semantic Intelligence platform can now be deployed within AWS GovCloud (U.S.), a specialised cloud environment designed specifically to meet stringent federal security standards. The expansion enables organisations processing Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and other highly sensitive data to utilise sophisticated AI-powered security governance without compromising data sovereignty requirements.

The move addresses a critical challenge facing government entities and their partners: balancing the need for cutting-edge data security technology with mandatory compliance frameworks that often restrict where and how data can be processed. Organisations using Microsoft 365 Government Community Cloud (GCC) High are among those that can now take advantage of the platform.

Dhruv Jhain, VP of Products at Concentric AI, emphasised the significance of keeping data within controlled boundaries. “With this support for private scanning within AWS GovCloud, organizations in the public sector can leverage our platform’s robust discovery, categorization, remediation, and GenAI data security capabilities to manage and secure their high-value, mission- and business-critical assets while ensuring data sovereignty,” he said. “All data remains within the customer’s isolated cloud environment, which is operated by U.S. citizens on U.S. soil.”

AWS GovCloud (U.S.) goes beyond standard commercial cloud offerings by incorporating enhanced security measures tailored for federal use. The environment features strict personnel controls limiting access to U.S. citizens only, along with physically and logically isolated private U.S. sovereign regions. It maintains compliance with multiple critical standards, including FedRAMP, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and U.S. Department of Defense Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CC SRG) Impact Levels 2, 4, and 5 for unclassified data.

The Private Scan Manager functionality represents the latest step in Concentric AI’s strategy to support organisations with on-premises data processing requirements. During 2025, the San Jose, California-based company rolled out similar capabilities for both Microsoft Azure and AWS private cloud environments, enabling companies to scan and categorise content whilst meeting compliance standards.

At the heart of the offering lies Semantic Intelligence, which Concentric AI positions as an end-to-end platform for protecting enterprise data across its entire lifecycle. The system monitors data at rest in cloud and on-premises environments, tracks data in motion as it moves through email and file-sharing applications, and extends protection to generative AI tools that users increasingly rely upon.

Unlike traditional data security approaches that depend on rigid rules, keyword matching, or data samples, Semantic Intelligence employs patented artificial intelligence to comprehend the context surrounding both structured and unstructured information. This contextual understanding allows the platform to detect not just standard categories like personally identifiable information (PII), payment card industry data (PCI), and protected health information (PHI), but also intellectual property and critical business documents that conventional systems might miss.

The platform’s category-aware data loss prevention capabilities safeguard sensitive information from unauthorised disclosure through email and generative AI applications. Meanwhile, continuous risk monitoring and automated remediation address issues such as excessive permissions, risky sharing practices, unclassified or misclassified data, information stored in incorrect locations, and anomalous behaviour patterns related to data access.

By processing all scanning and categorisation activities within the customer’s isolated environment, the Private Scan Manager approach ensures that regulated data never leaves the boundaries of approved infrastructure. This architecture proves particularly crucial for defence contractors, intelligence community partners, and federal agencies handling information subject to export controls or national security considerations.

The platform’s ability to function as a unified solution across multiple data states and applications potentially simplifies security operations for organisations that have historically relied on multiple point solutions. According to Concentric AI, the technology delivers more accurate classifications and access policies both within its own platform and across a customer’s broader security infrastructure.

For public sector entities and their contractors, the AWS GovCloud deployment option arrives as agencies face mounting pressure to modernise their cybersecurity posture whilst managing increasingly complex data environments. The expansion of remote work and cloud adoption across government has multiplied the attack surface, even as compliance requirements remain uncompromising.

Concentric AI’s Private Scan Manager for AWS GovCloud (U.S.) became available immediately upon announcement through the Semantic Intelligence platform. The company, which is venture-backed by prominent Silicon Valley investors, also offers managed services designed to help organisations maintain lean and scalable security programmes.
