Today, the Federal Supreme Council unanimously elected Sheikh Mohammed bin Saeed Al Nahyan as President of the United Arab Emirates.
The council meeting was held today at the Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saeed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member and Ruler of the Supreme Council of Sharjah, and Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. And His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed al-Sharqi, a member and ruler of the Supreme Council of Fujairah, and Sheikh Saud bin Rashid al-Mulla, ruler of Umm al-Quwain, and Sheikh Saud bin Zakr al-Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
According to Article 51 of the Constitution, Sheikh Mohammed bin Saeed Al Nahyan was unanimously elected President of the United Arab Emirates after the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Saeed Al Nahyan, according to a statement from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
The Sheikhs, members of the Supreme Council of the Union, reaffirmed their interest in upholding the true values and principles established by the late Sheikh Saeed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder. Strengthened the position of the United Arab Emirates regionally and globally and strengthened its national record.
The Council expressed its full confidence that the people of the United Arab Emirates will be a loyal defender of the Union at the behest of Saeed and the founders and will reap its benefits at all levels.
