“National Health” continues to be discussed on the topic of improving mental health

At the meeting of the Federal National Council Health and Environmental Affairs Committee at the Council’s Headquarters in Dubai yesterday, the Council’s Second Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Committee, Nama Abdullah Al Sharhan, will continue to present the Ministry’s representatives on the policy of the Ministry of Health and Social Security on the promotion of mental health.

The meeting was attended by group members: Sumaya Abdullah Al-Shuwaidi, Group Correspondent, Ahmed Hamad Pushab, Shada Saeed Al-Nagbi, Asra Hassan bin Raqat and Muhammad Ahmed Al-Yamahi.

The chairman of the committee, Nama Abdullah Al-Sharhan, said during the meeting, the team’s findings and comments were exchanged during discussions with the psychiatric departments at several hospitals. The committee decided to discuss its report on the matter during its next meeting and included recommendations that would contribute to strengthening the ministry’s role in providing mental health services in the country according to the best standards.

The Ministry of Health and Social Security was represented at the meeting: Dr. Amna Ali Turki, Director of Al-Amal Mental Hospital, Dr. Lubna Ali Al-Shali, Director of the Department of Public Health Policies, Dr. Rasha Al-Syed Salama, Health Legal Adviser and Dr. Noor Majid Al Muhairi , Emirates Services Corporation Director of Health Psychiatry.

The panel discusses the Ministry of Health and Social Security’s policy on improving mental health within multiple axes: the Ministry’s role in promoting and expanding the policy and strategic plans of the Ministry in developing policies and laws on mental health, and promoting integrated mental services, and the prevention of mental disorders in community members. And the role of the Ministry in cooperating with the relevant authorities to implement the Mental Development Policy and the services provided.
