Paris Saint-Germain announced Messi’s departure and Al-Hilal’s move to Saudi Arabia. French Football League News

Reuters news agency on Saturday quoted a source close to Argentina star Lionel Messi as saying he has received an offer from Saudi club Al Hilal from next season.

News reports that Messi (35 years old) has been closely linked with Al Hilal Saudi Arabia’s ranks for the upcoming summer transfer, especially after his Portuguese rival Cristiano Ronaldo joined the ranks of the Saudi success last January.

And on Saturday, French first-division champions Paris Saint-Germain announced Messi would leave at the end of the season after two years with the team.

“After two seasons in the French capital, Lionel Messi’s adventure with Paris Saint-Germain ends with the end of the 2022-2023 season,” the club added in a statement.

Speculation over Messi’s future at the French club has increased in recent weeks, with Spanish newspaper Sport suggesting that Al Hilal are looking to announce a deal with Messi next Tuesday.

Al-Hilal paid around €400 million a season to sign the Argentine, who has been a Saudi tourism ambassador since last year.

Media reports have also linked Messi with a return to Barcelona and a possible move to Inter Miami.

“I want to thank Lionel Messi for two seasons in Paris. It was great to see him win the Ballon d’Or seven times in blue and red at the Parc des Princes, win the league title twice in a row and inspire the youngsters at our club.

“Lionel’s contribution to Paris Saint-Germain and the French league cannot be underestimated and we wish him and his family every success in the future,” he added.

Messi has scored 21 goals and assisted 20 goals in all competitions this season. European Champions League.
