President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi today welcomed Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, in the presence of Foreign Minister Chameleon and Environment Minister Dr. Yasmin Fouad.

The President reaffirmed Egypt’s appreciation for the fruitful and growing cooperation with the United Nations on the issue of climate change and its effects on the world, and said he was looking forward to focusing on this. Within the framework of Egypt’s efforts to build on the results achieved during the last Glasgow Summit, cooperation and coordination in preparation for the upcoming COP27 Global Climate Summit in Sharm El Sheikh and raising the necessary international funds.

From her side; Espinosa expressed his pride in meeting the President and expressed his desire that the next summit hosted by Sharm el-Sheikh would be a major summit on climate change, appreciating Egypt’s relevant historical position in this context. It is one of the first developing countries to adopt decisive policies on climate change. , Including the creation of green cities, the transition to cleaner transportation, the issuance of green bonds and the adoption of the National Climate Change Strategy 2050.
